Martin Scorsese(or Marty, as Rob( de Niro) and me call him) is one of my heroes.
There are many reasons for that, and I will not talk about all of them now.
Sometimes I just can't understand why is he using that much violence in his movies.
I can understand sometimes, but I think that in most cases he just wants us to feel sick.
And sometimes I do feel that way, literally.
I love his movies. "Goodfellas" is one of my favorites, and
there is one I don't wanna see ever again, and that's "Cape fear". If you've seen it, you know what I'm talking about.
Of course, I love "No direction home", and not just for Dylan, but I like the way that the movie is made.
And now I'm comin' to my point, and here it is.
Music in his movies is just perfect.I saw "The Departed" last night, and it shocked me in some scenes, but music just perfectly fits in the entire movie.
I was always amazed by the great original movie music,
and the good usage of already recorded songs also,
and this guy's pics are a great example for that.
So if you haven't discovered that yet, I would recommend you to take some time and do it

Have you seen Mean Streets? I saw it a couple of months ago. Early Marty--got him on the map. Very young de Niro and Harvey Keitel. In fact, I was so surprised just by simple things like how they looked. There's a lot of struggle there. Always the theme of loyalties and expectations with a duality of disgust over the life. I don't think he ever celebrates the violence. Good call on the music.
No,I'm not sayin' he's celebrating violence, but some brutal scenes are there just to make us sick,or I don't know.Or maybe to show the real mobsters' psychic, I don't know. But sometimes he's on the edge of horror movies. But yes, as I said, I'm a fan, and I agree that point is in loyalty(however sick it sometimes is)
I read about Mean streets, but I couldn't find it anywhere,I was searching for it like a madman.
A Jan to je reziser koji je proslavio De Nira, radili su gomilu filmova zajedno
pa i lici na njega. Skottao sam nesto da imaju yajednicko...
I agree wholehartedly. Saw Departed right when it opened. Loved it. Loved the music. One of the hardest movies I've watched. Loved it.
So I guess he is not the director of Grease... or Magnum?
